St. Louis - March 5, 2009 - Missourians United for Life President Ed Martin today issued the following statement regarding the efforts by euthanasia group FINAL EXIT and its effort to kill seniors and the disabled:
"Missourians United for Life denounces the efforts by the euthanasia group FINAL EXIT to spread its killing into Missouri and across America," said Martin. "Our seniors and those suffering from disease or disability are vulnerable and often weak; they deserve our help and our assistance in living and the efforts by FINAL EXIT to exploit these vulnerable people to further their life-hating philosophy is abhorrent. Based on reports and accounts of FINAL EXIT activities in local and national press and a review of FINAL EXIT's public statements, MUL believes that federal and local law enforcement should act immediately to stop the FINAL EXIT killing sprees."
A detailed examination by MUL of the FINAL EXIT website finds that they actively promote euthanasia and are seeking to expand to every community in America. Finally, MUL is also disturbed by FINAL EXIT's effort to link its killings to hospice. Hospice is most often a faith-based response to suffering that affirms life and dignity. This is in contrast to FINAL EXIT's demeaning efforts.
